The
Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is located at 4525 Oak Street, KC, MO 64111.
It is famous for the giant shuttlecocks on the front lawn.
They are over 17 feet tall! They
are also part of the Kansas City sculpture park that surrounds the museum, full
of huge, modern sculptures. The
museum offers tours and other activities. Admission
is $1 for children 6 to 18 and students with I.D.
Adults are $4. There is no
admission fee on Saturday. One of
the most popular exhibits in the museum is the Museum Guard.
This mannequin is so realistic that museumgoers have been known to ask
him questions before realizing he’s not real!
He is wearing a real uniform and badge, and you can even see his skin
pores!
