Thomas Hart Benton was a famous artist, who was born April 15,  Neosho, Missouri. After spending time in Chicago, Paris, and New York, he came to Kansas City in 1935 to teach at the Kansas City Art Institute. His famed mural, "A Social History of the State of Missouri," is featured at the state Capitol.
