Waltz Steps

Colorful flowing ballgowns! Tails! Weddings! Beautiful music! Strong melodies!Waltz is from the old German word walzen meaning to roll, turn, or to glide, which aptly describes the dance today with three quarter time and a strong accent on the first beat.  The dance began in Vienna and Austria in the seventeenth century.  Many of the familiar waltz tunes can be traced back to simple peasant yodeling melodies.  There are two versions today, the Modern Waltz and the Viennese (Quick) Waltz.
