Friend of Han Solo, enemy of Bossk, and the baddest walking carpet in the galaxay, Chewbacca played a very important part in the Star Wars myth. Chewbacca is the main Wookie in the galaxy. He's wanted by more than one gangster. Jabba the Hutt is after Chewbacca and his friend the Corellian pal, Han Solo. Bossk the Trandoshan hunts down Chewie in The Empire Strikes Back. Chewbacca and Han Solo have been hunted down since Star Wars when they eluded some testy sandtroopers in Mos Eisly docking bay 94. But, unfortunately, Han was frozen in carbonite in The Empire Strikes Back after being betrayed by Lando Calrissian. Chewbacca was forced to watch this despicable deed from the peanut gallery guarded by stormtroopers and Boba Fett the bounty hunter. But in later episodes Chewie got the last laugh when he rescued Han and Lando from the Sarlacc. Boba Fett didn't fair so well though, he got swallowed up in one gulp. The majority of the Wookies live on the forest planet of Kashyyk. Kashyyk is home to factories, forests, and tons of Wookies. Wookies have also been sighted on Tatooine, Kessel, Yavin IV. Chewie helped Han and Luke save the princess on the first Death Star. Chewie also lent a hand in The Empire Strikes Back when he helped C-3P0 pull himself together. Wookies haven't made a very big name for themselves in the Star Wars trilogy. Hopefully, Chewbacca, his cousin Lowbacca, Lowbacca's parents on Kashyyk, and the owner of the jiz band The Module Nodes, Chalmun will make a bigger name for themselves in later or earlier movies. There are few who can duplicate what George Lucas did and how Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) portrayed a Wookie, but Mel Brooks tried to when he made the movie Spaceballs. Brooks chose John Candy to play the lovable Mog, Barf. The anatomy is very simple. First on the outside is the fur. This is what kept Chewie warm on the ice planet Hoth. A Wookie's fur is very important because they don't normally wear much clothing. Next is a Wookie's sense of smell. In Star Wars Chewie was the first to smell trouble in the trash compactor. Wookie's also come equipped with claws, and very sharp teeth. So all in all Wookies are very nice creatures, but don't test their patience. Wookies are creatures too. Treat them with respect. And always remember, Wookies can rip your arms out of their sockets. |
