The French
during the 100 years had ony lost battles and not driven the English from
their land.
Yet,
in 1429 a simple country girl joined the French in the very besieged Orleans
and led an
attack
on Paris. Joan of Arc heard the voices of the Saints in which she claimed
told her to drive
the
English from France. She inspired the French knights but was burned at
the stake as a heretic
in 1431
after being beaten in an English dungeon. She never signed an agreement
to forget all of
beliefs
and become Roman-Catholic which was The Religon in those days.
As the flames roared
around
her she held up a crude cross and simply said "Jesus." After she was burned
an English
knight
said "We are lost. We have killed a Saint." After that day some might have
said the Wrath
of God
happened, for a few years later the French drove the English from
France.
