Equipment

Bang! Bang! Pow! Pow! Boom! Boom! Many different kinds of equipment were used on D-Day.

During the early morning the Allies caught the Germans by surprise. Giant boats unloaded thousands of soldiers armed with bazookas, machine guns, knives, hand grenades; flame-throwers, handguns, rifles and more on to the beach code-named Omaha. Tanks and Jeeps were also unloaded for attack. Many Allies had gasmasks on incase the Germans to to use poison gas. All of the soldiers had K & D rations (food) and extra boxes of ammunition. The Germans had mines and giant metal spikes in the water to tear the landing crafts apart. Bazookas were one the most commonly used weapons on D-Day. German bunkers had giant machine guns that were used to assault the Allies. Earlier Planes had bombed the Germans. Germans hid from the gunfire in concrete bunkers. The bunkers were different sizes, some big, some small. Knives were only used when the men ran out of ammunition. Many Allies dug foxholes to avoid getting shot.

In the end using the equipment they had, the Allies made their way into Axis territory...
