At Omaha Beach you would always hear machine gun fire and cries from people who had been shot. These are the soldiers of “Bloody Omaha.” There were many deaths, 13 out of 30 men would not make it to the cliff at the other side of the beach. The Americans did not have any help from anyone getting onto the beach. The Germans had put more troops and equipment on Omaha. The Germans used young and old people for the war. All the wounded soldiers were treated on enemy lines. the usual weapon for an American soldier was a rifle. The army of the United States of America scheduled 40,000 men to land for the attack of Omaha Beach. Even today the surviving soldiers of Omaha Beach weep for their friends in the after life who died with pride at “Bloody Omaha.”
