The mighty skimmers of the sea, SHIPS! You wouldn't believe how big the guns on those things were. Aboard all the ships was landing and assault equipment. The ships guns fired so much that the barrels got too hot to touch.
If you counted all the ships in the D-Day invasion you would have a total of five thousand ships. It went down in history as the largest armada ever assembled. There were battleships, cruisers, minesweepers, canal streamers, destroyers, and hundreds of Higgins boats.
(You would not want to be on one of those because they were so crowded that even if you wanted to be on one of those ships you couldn't.) If you added together all the sailors on all of the ships in D-Day you would have a total of 200,000 sailors. ( If you were on one of those ships you would have to be very small to fit.)
