History
The Egyptians were one of the first cultures to use writing. One of the earliest kinds of writing dates back to 3100 B.C. It is called hieroglyphics. The word hieroglyphics means, "sacred carved inscription". Hieroglyphics are a form of Egyptian picture writing that can represent sounds, objects or ideas. Hieroglyphics were used from 3000 B.C. to 300 A.D. Some of the last real forms of hieroglyphics lasted until 394A.D.The Egyptians called their writing "the god’s word."
