                   Who Was Cleopatra?

Cleopatra VII was born in 69 B.C. Her father, Ptolemy XII, groomed her to be the next Pharaoh of Egypt from the time she was 14 years old. She was well educated in science, literature and philosophy. She spoke nine languages fluently. Cleopatra was 18 when she became queen in the year of 51 B.C. Even though Cleopatra was of Greek descent, a foreigner, she earned the respect of the Egyptians. She was the only Ptolemy to learn the Egyptian language, and she learned about the culture of the Egyptian life from her servants.
