Since the war was going on, people didn't have a lot of money to spend on clothes. Skirts were simple, straight, and short. The square shouldered look was influenced by the military uniforms. Clothes were designed to last and were not seasonal. After the war was over clothes became seasonal and complicated. The skirts were now full and took up as much as eighteen yards of material.

In the 1960's there were mini-skirts everywhere! The dresses were simple with minimum details. The skirts sat on the hips and were slightly flared. In the 60's women wore pant suits for the first time. They wore colored or natural tights. Flat shoes and chunky heals were born with mini-skirts. Hair: Vidal Sassoon came out with geometric haircuts in the 60's.

In the early seventies hippie clothes were still in. Later disco was born. Such fabrics as polyester, acrylic, and nylon were born with disco. Everyone wore loud and clashing clothing. Prints such as swirling and psychedelic were worn a lot. Also flowers were really popular. Hair: The hairstyles were usually long and free-flowing or they were afros.
