Basic Rules

1. The team that wins the coin toss has the choice to kick the ball or receive the kick.

2. On the kickoff if the ball lands all the way in the end zone the receiving team can start play on the 20 yard line or they can do just a regular return.

3. If a player runs the ball in to the end zone or catches a forward pass he scores 6 points for a touchdown.

4. After the team scores a touchdown they decide rather to go for a field goal which is worth 1 extra point or go for a 2 point conversion where the team runs or passes the ball over the goal line.

5. The defense can score by tackling the ball carrier in his own end zone (which is called a safety and is worth 2 points).

6. The offense has 4 downs to get at least 10 yards which makes another 1st down. For each 1st down the offense gets another set of 4 downs.

7. When a player runs out for a forward pass they must have both feet in bounds for it to be a complete pass.

8. On a punt the punt returner may run back with the ball, or may signal for a fair catch, which prevents the opposing team from tackling which could cause a fumble.
