Survival

(in arctic weather)

First Thing

In the summer time near the poles the days are 20 hours long. The first thing to do when placed in a survival situation is not to panic. Then take a big look around to see if there are animals around. If yes, that is a good and bad sign. You will want to move to a place that doesn't have as many animals around. The reason you want to move is because there is food, and predators will hunt there, and you don't want to be food. Next you must find shelter before ANYTHING! You will die in a few hours without shelter!!

How to Build a Shelter

You can build a shelter by piling up snow in a huge pile and digging a hollow space just barely big enough for you to be able to slip in and out with a little room to spare. You may think that this would be cold, but after a while your shelter will begin to warm up. This is because snow holds heat very well. After you rest awhile, get out and hollow your shelter out more so that you can at least sit cross legged with your head barely touching the ceiling, but keep your entrance the same size as it was so your shelter holds more heat in.
