•            When you visit Washington D.C., be sure that you visit the Capitol.  This is one of Washington's most historical memorials.  It contains the legislative branch of government which is the Senate and the House of Representatives. 
•       When the Capitol was going to be built in 1792, there was a contest of who would design it. 
•      Dr. William Thornton won the contest.  He surely was talented! 
• The Capitol has Freedom (a Native American woman statue) on the top of the building.
