Boarding Stables

A stable which rents stalls for horses in his/her barn.

Breeder

A Person who breeds horses.

Bridle

A piece of tack or equipment you put on the horse's face to pull their face to one side or the other and helps you turn a horse.

Cavalry

Armed horse-mounted military units

Colick

Bad abdominal pain (Belly Ache) located in a hollow organ caused by spasm(cramps), twisting, and blockage.

Colt

A baby male horse.

Equitation

The act or art of riding on horseback.

Farrier

A person who shoes the horses, usually picked and hired by the owner of the barn.

Feed

Food for horses and other animals.

Green Horse

A horse that has never been trained or ridden before.

Grooming

Cleaning a horse, with brushes, hoofpick, electric trimmer etc.

Instructor, Riding

A person who teaches riders how to ride.

Jockey

A person who races horses.

Mount

To get on your horse.

Mounting block

Small step or steps to help you mount your horse.

Muck

To clean out the wastes (wood chips, sand, poop and urine etc.) in the stall of your horse.

Paddock

Closed area used for exercising horses.

Pony

A small stocky horse noted for their gentleness and endurance, and less than 14 hands tall. It is not a miniature horse.

Saddle

A special seat made of leather and wood frame that is put on the back of a horse

Stable Hand

A person who cleans stalls and feeds the horses, cleans the aisles between the horses, etc. ... for low pay.

Stirrups

Footholds hanging on the side of the saddle,to help you mount and keep you stable

Tack:

Leather/Equipment that goes on a horse, like Saddle, girth, bridle etc. in order to be able to ride a horse

Turn Out

To put a horse out of the stall to the paddock, field, pasture, etc.

Vet

A person who checks horses and other animals' health. Gives shots and tests to horses and other animals when needed.
