Wolves

People say that wolves are related to dogs. That is because they are. They are similar to dogs. Their paws both have four small sections on their paws and one big section on the bottom of thoughts four sections. Most people think that wolves look exactly like huskies. That is because of their fur and tail

The average male wolf weighs between 70 to 100 pounds. About 32 to 45 kilograms and measures 5 to 6.5 feet. The female wolf is usually smaller then the male. Their average weight is about 55 to 90 pounds. About 24 to 41 kilograms and a length of 4.5 to 6 feet.

All wolves have the same body structure but are really different in color of the fur. The majority of wolves are gray. Even though they’re mostly gray they have white, black, and chestnut. These colors are on the wolves’ fur or pelage. Most people see wolves gray but their can be pups from the same litter and some will be black, chestnut or cream. These animals usually keep these colors through their lives.

Like domestic dogs wolves have 42 teeth. They have 20 in the upper jaw and 22 in the lower jaw. The wolves four canine teeth or fangs are conspicuous. They often measuring 25 inches ( 6.25 centimeters.) The teeth help the wolves get a good gripe on prey. Their other teeth are incisors, premolars and molars are use full to. These teeth help the wolves grind and cut their food.

Unlike humans, they keep the back parts on their feet raised when they run. This is a method of locomotion called digitigrade movement. This movement is used by horses, cats, and dogs. Or, animals that need silent movement or motion.

Wolves hunt in groups. The group is called the pack. The pack is made of family members, affection, and aid, also females who have bread their young. There are usually 6 or 7 members, although their could be as many as 15 wolves. This helps get predators for food.

One of their prey is the moose. There are 131 moose detected by wolves, usually through scent. 54 moose get away before a wolf can approach them. 34 moose outrun or outlasted a wolf. 36 moose stood at bay and fought a wolf. 7 attacked by a wolf. 1 wounded. Finally 6 killed.
