| This is a picture of a Shield Huntsman Spider |
There are more types of Huntsman Spiders than just one. Delena cancerides is the most common of the Huntsman Spiders. It belongs to the Selenopidae family.
The male Huntsman is 20-25 mm long, the female is 25-28mm long. They are a brownish grey color. The legs are darker on the bottom and get lighter on the way up. Even the body is light. The female is bigger than the male.
The Huntsman eats all kinds of insects and pests.(anything it can catch.) But these spiders prey on their food instead of the usual web.
The bites are painful but it is harmless to humans. This type of Huntsman Spider is found in Tasmania and all over Australia.
