Eastern Highlands

The Eastern Highlands is a strip that spreads out along the entire east coast from Cape York Peninsula to Tasmania.

The Great Dividing Range runs parallel with the coastline. It is sometimes called the Australian Alps.

The continental Divide, which splits Australia into two separate drainage systems. The rivers flow west out of the mountains, such as the Murray, go to the Indian Ocean. The rivers flowing east go to the Pacific Ocean.

The Snowy Mountains is one of the Divide's many ranges. It has Australia's highest peak, Mount Kosciusko. It has an elevation of 7,310 feet. The most productive region of Australia is the Eastern Highlands.
