Ptolemy VIII Lathyrus was born in 182?-81 BC He ruled with his mother but she held the actual power. She forced him to to rule with his brother, Ptolemy IX, who drove him from the throne. Ptolemy VIII went to Cyprus and then to Syria. He conquered Cyprus, and then he reconquered Egypt.
