Ptolemy I Soter

Ptolemy I Soter 367-283 BC Was the son of a Macedonian man named Lagis. Ptolemy was a leading genaral of Alexander the Great. When Alexander died (323 BC) he was declared governer of Egypt. Somehow he managed to keep the country in line although he was in the middle of war. To keep things cool he maried Eurydice the daughter of Antipater. After a while he instead maried his half sister, Berniece. Ptolemy defeated many countries. He than stepped aside for his son to take the throne in 284 BC.
