AlexanderIII

AlexanderIII, was king of Maceadonia, he was the first king to be called "the Great," conqured the Persian empire and he annxed it to Macedonia. The son of Philip II and Olympias, was born in the year 356BC and he brought up as crown prince. For sometime he was taught by Aristole, he acquired a love for Homer and infatuation with the heroic age. When Philip divorced Olyampias to marry a younger princess, Alexander fled. Although he was allowed to return, he remained isolated and insecure until the msyterious assassination around June 336. Alexander was at once presented to his army as the king. Winning it's support, he had elminated all the potential rivals,gained the allegiance of the Macedonian nobles and many of the Greeks (after a rebillion, in which he destroyed the Thebes), and had defeated the neighboring barbarians. Then he had taken up Philip's war of agression aganist the Persian, adopting his own slogan of a Hellenic Crusade aganist the barbarians.
