About the Bow
Most violinists hold their violins in their left hand and their right hand with a special bowgrip. Your left hand has to be placed on the finger board to create different notes. It must be pressed hard to create the notes in tone. This creates great hand eye coordination.
There are at least three parts of the bow. The part at where you hold the bow with your right hand is called the frog. This is also where another part of the bow, the bow hair, is connected. The bow hair of the bow is usually made of the hair of a horse's tail. The last part of the bow is the point which is located at the very end of the bow. And finally, the bow is the main thing that you will use to play a string instrument such as the violin.
Bowing is also a difficult area. You must press hard for a loud noise and softer for a more piano sound. You will most likely scratch on two strings at once. You have to okay short bows or long bows. To play a short bow, you can start on the string at either the center of your bow and go up to the point, or you can start at the point and go down.
