A Play about Friendship

SCENE ONE

Narrator: Ana is having trouble with her best friend Jessica. You see there is a new girl coming to school named Danielle. Jessica wants to be nice to her so she can get to know people.

Ana: So my dad bought a new boat, and I was wondering if you wanted to go to the lake with him and me?

Jessica: Sure, my mom is going out with her new boyfriend anyways so she won't mind me leaving for the day.

Bell rings and Nicole walks in.

Teacher: Ok, everybody, the bell has rung so calm down and be seated. Ana, will you pass out the work books and Jessica will you shut the door? Now class, I have an Anouncement... we have a new student. Her name is Danielle Bradley. She has come to Minnesota all the way from California. Since she is new, I would like it if you were all nice to her. If you were the new student I am sure you would all want the same respect.

Danielle walks in the classroom.

Teacher: Everybody, this is Danielle Bradley. Say hi.

Everybody says hi.

Teacher: Danielle, you may sit next to Jessica.

Danielle sits next to Jessica.

Ana: So what do you say?

Jessica: Hey, I have a good idea. How about we invite Danielle to go with us up to the lake so she can get to know us.

Ana: That's a great idea! Let's ask her at recess

 

SCENE TWO (Recess)

Ana: Danielle, do you want to come up to the lake with me and my friend Jessica. You see my father just got a new boat and I can invite a couple of friends.

Danielle:Sure I would love to go to the lake with you.

 

SCENE 3

Narrator: Saturday arrives and Ana and her father are going to pick up Danielle.

Mrs. Bradley: Hello, you must be Danielle's new friends. Danielle your new friends are here!

Danielle: Cominnnnggg!

Mrs. Bradley: You guys must be really great friends because all Danielle does is talk about you.

Ana: My dad is waiting, so can you hurry up?

Mrs. Bradley: Sure

Ana's dad: Come on, princess. Daddy doesn't have all the time in the world.

Ana: Ok, daddy!

They all get in the car

Danielle: I am so glad you guys want to be my friend. I thought I was never going to get friends at this new school.

 

SCENE 4

Narrator: The girls get to the lake. Danielle tries to keep up with Ana and Jessica but no matter what she does she doesn't feel like she fits in

Ana: She keeps on following us. I'm beginning to hate her!

Jessica: I don't know. Maybe we should slow down a little bit just so she can keep up with us.

Ana's dad: Come on, girls. I got the boat full of gas and we have to be back bo 2:00pm.

Narrator: All the girls go on the boat. The girls notice that Danielle is curled up in the middle of the boat and realize that she is afraid to be on the to be on the deep side of the lake.

SCENE 5 (Back at School)

Narrator:Ana is telling everyone in school that Danielle is afraid to go on the deepside of the lake.

Ana: Listen to this, Danielle can't swim and is afraid to go on the deep side of the lake.

Jessica: Hey, that's not really friendly. Its actually is really mean. What if I told everybody about your crush on Jonathan Cooves? Oops! It just slipped!

Ana: You'd better be quiet or I'll tell everybody about your bed liner that you have just in case. Oops! iIt just slipped!.

Teacher: Ok, everybody the bell has rung so sit in your seats and be quiet. Danielle, pass out the work books and Jessica, will you please shut the door? Thank-you both. Oh yes, before I forget, these people need to go see the school counsellor. Ana Danielle and Jessica. You three will go at 2:30.

SCENE 6(The Counsellor's Office)

Narrator: The girls go to the counslers office to talk to him, but they don't know why they have to go.

Ana: This place gives me the creeps.

Jessica: Hello?

Danielle: Ok. He isn't here. Let's go.

Josh: Hi, girls. You are here because you need to learn how to have more than one friend. Your teacher says that you three do not get along with each other.

Danielle: You are wrong there. We are best friends. Now we talked. So can we go now?

Josh: No you haven't really talked.

Ana: Yeah, I have a problem with little Miss Perfect.

Josh:What kind of a problem,Ana?

Ana: I have a problem that she is always tryng to steal my best friend.

Danielle: I never knew you felt that way. I will stop trying to make you guys like me.

Jessica: Ana, you never want to play with me anyways and Danielle does, so I play with her. And thats another thing. You are always tryng to be the center of attention.

Ana: I don't see why we can't all play together. A person can have more than one friend, right?

Jessica: Yeah. I want you both to be my friend

Josh: Have you all learned something today?

All: Yes.

Josh: Jessica and Ana, do you think that you could both be friends with Danielle?

Danielle: I really want to be. Can I be a friend to both of you?

Jessica and Ana: Yes.

Narrator: The girls did learn to get along and stayed friends for many years.
