History

People believe that electric cars were first made as early as 1830. Historians credit English inventor J.K. Harley and Fred M. Kimball with building the first electric car. They built it in 1888. In 1896 the Woods Motor Vehicle Company became the first American manufacturer of the electric car. It was a good product; by 1904 one third of all the cars in Chicago, New York City and Boston were electric powered. And then by 1912 there were 20,000 electric cars and 10,000 electric trucks and buses in the United States. It disapeared between the 1920's and 1960's.  In the 1970's it was reproduced again. Experimental cars reached speeds up to 50 miles per hour and could accelerate as fast as gasoline cars.

Electric cars are still produced by companies. Because of their engine that is electric, they don't use gas. It is good because they don't pollute the earth. Scientists like electric cars because they don't pollute. Other people like electric cars because they save a lot of money on gas. But they do have to be charged up. All in all though electric cars are very good and help the earth and us.

Honda makes an electric vehicle, which is the first 4 seat electric car that has a reasonable range. The car has to be recharged about every 120 miles (average driver) and it takes 6-7 hours to recharge the battery. You need to have a recharging station to plug your car into. Later

There are already a lot of electric cars. But that is a good thing because they help the earth. Some scientists believe that in the future all there will be are electric cars. Even though they need to be charged up they still help us. Some scientists believe that if we don't use as much gas it will help stop global warming. And with all this in mind people think that in a couple of years all there will be is electric cars. I think that there might be a lot of electric cars; but I still think there will be other cars. There are some cars that just can't be replaced by electric cars. But electric cars will help the environment and us.
