Pines are widely distributed conifers. They are common in the colder regions. Conifers lack true flowers; the seed develop in cones. The conifers included nearly 100 species living in the North America. Of these, the Pine family is largest and best known. It includes Spruce, Fir, Hemlock, and others besides those common Pines. True Pines long needles, usually growing to two to five in a cluster. The cones are large and well formed.
