Green Ash is small spreading trees. With typical ash bark and branching. The leafs is like that of the White Ash but is sometimes hairy along the leafs stem. In Canada and the east a hairless race has been distinguished by smooth twigs and shouts. However, it is now seen that the young branches may be either smooth or hairy, and usually become with age. Green Ash is sometimes planted for shade or shelterbelt tree, especially west of Mississippi. The wood, light brown in color and similar to White Ash, is used for tool handles, basket, and sports goods.
