            Bridges

Suspension bridges are the largest bridges there are. They are used to connect far distances. A lot of suspension bridges have large main spans. A main span is the difference between the two large towers that help hold up the bridge. Suspension bridges are also used to cross deep water or steep canyons. Suspension bridges require two piers which hold up a tower. The total span is from one anchorage (the large block of concrete located at either end of the bridge) to the other.
