St. Louis Cathedral

The St. Louis Cathedral may sound like a spiritual and holy spot but it has some mysteries. In 1764 the French gave New Orleans to the Spanish. The French were not too happy about this, so they made plans to get rid of the Spanish governor. Eventually he left to go back to Havana,Cuba. Spain was not going to give up on New Orleans so they sent Don Alejando O`Riley and twenty-four ships to stop the French Rebellion. The ringleaders of the French rebellion were arrested and excuted. O`Riley would not allow families to have a funeral for the slain bodies. He left them out to rot to show the French people what would happen to them if they fought against the Spanish government. The bodies of the slain men were mysteriously brought to the Cathedral, possibly by Pere Dagobert, the pastor at St. Louis Cathedral. He held a funeral with the families of the rebels and buried them at St. Louis Cemetery No.1. People believe Pere Dagoberts voice is still heard outside of the cathedral singing the "Kyrie."
