Grassland
The grassland is
an amazing biome. In South
Africa, it’s called “veld”, in Eurasia, it’s known as the “ steppe”,
in Australia, it’s called “rangeland”, and in South America it’s called
the “pampa.”
The weather in the grassland is very odd.
The air temperature is between 113°F and -49°F.
It is very windy in the grassland.
It is very dry climate, only 8 to 39 inches of rain per year.
The soil in the grassland is deep black to light brown. There is a lot of organic matter in the soil.
The soil is very wet in grassland regions.
Grasslands have less than 1 tree per acre.
Common plants are grasses, forbs, cacti, and shrubs.
Animals are very abundant and diverse.
Common animals are prairie dogs, gophers, and ground squirrels.
Insects, however are the most common living thing.
