         Did you know that the Deciduous Forest is also referred to as The Temperate Forest? Well it’s sometimes called that because it was four different seasons. 

         

The Deciduous forest is located in the U.S such as in the state of New York.  It is also in eastern Asia and western Europe.  All of the deciduous forest is located above the equator.  

         

The climate of the deciduous forest is very versatile.  In summer the temperature is about 40oF-87oF.  In winter it is much colder, 10F to 45F.  That’s why it is said to have four seasons.  Summer is very hot and humid.  Fall is cool and very wet.  Winter is cold and bitter.  Spring is cool and sometimes hot. 

           

Some interesting animals live in the Deciduous forest.  Common predators foxes, coyotes, weasels, hawks and owls.  The most common insects are earthworms, ants, wasps, and spiders.  Others include rats, squirrels, quail and rabbits.

 

The plants in the D-forest are all tough ones to survive difficult winters. Cabbage, sunflowers, dandelions and tulips are common in early spring.  Trees include oak, elm, and beech are common trees.
