The discovery of oil at Spindletop brought many changes. First, Beaumont was
immediately changed from a quiet sawmill town into a roaring boomtown. Next,
the automobile industry was given new life as it was provided with fuel
it needed so badly to succeed.
Not only did the Lucas Gusher mark the beginning of the liquid fuel age, but
it also set the industrial
revolution in motion, and opened a thousand new frontiers.
