Gladys City. We want to dedicate our website to all the people who were
involved with the drilling of the Spindletop Gusher. We want everyone to
understand what a spectacular event this was because

My name is Kailee. I'm a 5th grade student and I have enjoyed being part of this Thinkquest
team. Learning about the history of my community has been fun. My dad was a roughneck
when he
was young so he was able to explain many things to me.
Also, I learned about Beaumont's history. My Mom teaches first grade. She teaches a big
Spindletop Unit each year and her class learns a lot.
My name is Kelsee. I'm a 5th grade student and I am also part of this Thinkquest team.
I enjoyed putting together this website because this was the 100th year celebration of
Spindletop. We participated in the celebration and learned all about the history of
Spindletop, and we also had fun. Learning about the oil fields was interesting because my
dad worked in one when he was younger. It was fun to see what life was like at the turn
of the 20th century.
Hi! My name is Joel and I'm going to tell you a little about myself. I was born in Houston,
Texas on March 26, 1990. Now in the year 2001, I am a fifth grader at VMS. I love to do
karate,
but I am only a yellow-stripe. One of my best friends, Ahren Kerwood, is a black-stripe.
I've played baseball since I was five years old. I've met most of my friends in baseball.
Right now, I am moving up to Broncos. I really like Boy Scouts and just received the Arrow
of
Light. I really like being on the Thinkquest team, and I am glad that we chose to research
and create a webpage on Spindletop.
Hello! My name is Ahren Kerwood and I'm a Thinkquest team member. I was born in Tulsa,
Oklahoma.
I enjoy volleyball, baseball, basketball and karate. I have two cats, a dog, and a hamster.
My favorite subject is science. I'm glad to be a Thinkquest member and I hope to inspire other
people about being in Thinkquest.
Hi! My name is Ashton. I am 11 years old and I am in the 6th grade. My hobbies are playing
the tuba,
as well as playing soccer, tetherball, and basketball. Being part of this Thinkquest team has
also
been one of my favorite pastimes. My favorite food is noodles and cheese. My favorite
quote is
“Many people walk in and out of your life, but only true friends leave footprints in your heart.”
What I like most about Thinkquest is working hard and learning more.
