The cervical nerves are located in the section of C5-C8. The lower cervical nerves innervate the muscles of the arm, hand and fingers.

The thoracic nerves control the signals to the torso and parts of the arms. The thoracic nerves are located in the section of T1-T12.

The lumbar nerves relay signals to the legs and hips. L1-L5 is the section, in which the lumbar nerves are located.

Sacral nerves (S1-S5), control signals to the toes, groin, and parts of the legs.
