Germany is located in Central Europe, bordering the Baltic Sea and the North Sea. It lies between the Netherlands and Poland and south of Denmark. The terrain of Germany consists of lowlands in the north, uplands in the center, and the Bavarian Alps in the south. The area of Germany is 357,021 sqaure kilometers.

The climate of Germany is temperate, cool and cloudy with wet winters and summers having occasional warm winds.

The population of Germany is 82, 797,408 as of July 2000. The type of government that Germany has is a federal republic.

In 1972, Heidelberg hosted the Paralympic Games.
