Shark Attack

KINDS There are more then 350 kinds of sharks. But only 30 are known to attack humans. There are only 3 kinds of sharks you should look out for: the Great White shark, the Bull shark and the Tiger shark. A Bull shark can live in both salt and fresh water. Sharks can smell blood from a mile away.

HOW THEY ATTACK Sharks attack in 3 ways; they are Hit and Run, Bump and Bite and Sneak. HIT AND RUN This attack usually happens right off shore. Also this attack happens from mistaken identity like when a guy on a surfboard looks a lot like a seal which is the favorite food of great whites and tiger sharks. In this attack the person hardly ever sees the shark because it leaves right after it bites. BUMP AND BITE This attack usually doesn't happen. The victims for this attack are usually divers and swimmers. The shark first circles the victim ,then it bumps the person and then it attacks. This kind of attack causes really bad injuries. SNEAK This attack does not have any circling or any warning. This attack happens when the shark is feeding or they are defending themselves.

Oh no it's JAWS! Did you ever know that Jaws is real? The story is that in the early 1900's there were many serious accidents. The first attack happened to a 12 year old boy who was hanging out with his friends. While he was swimming, Jaws came to attack him. While he was floating in the water, a man saw the boy so he brought him up to shore. When he pulled him up his upper hip had been bitten off and his knee cap was not there. He died that night at the hospital. His name was Lester Stilwen. The man that pulled him up his name was Stanley Fisher.

The story of Raymond Short A man named Raymond Short was attacked by a shark that was starving. Raymond was swimming at an Australian beach. A shark was so hungry that he got his leg. Some men saw Raymond and ran to the water. They tried to pull him in, but the shark was still hanging onto his leg! When the shark let go, Raymond had to be pulled right up to the beach. The shark got a really long wound on his belly. Scientists think the shark was so hungry that it just attacked.

The great Rodney Fox A young Australian named Rodney Fox had to find a fish for a contest ,but he was running out of time. The contest was for the person who caught the biggest fish. As Rodney was looking for the fish, the water was smelling like blood. Suddenly something crashed into him. It was like a box car had hit him. But a Great White shark had got him. The bite was so hard that his mask had fallen off and Rodney was losing air. Then Rodney had remembered the weakest spot of the shark- his eyes. While the shark was biting his back and chest ,with all his strength Rodney got his fist and aimed right at the shark's eye. The shark let go really fast. Rodney headed for the surface for a breath of air, but the Great White got his air cord. Rodney was dragged through the water. Then he reached for his pocket knife, grabbed the shark and stabbed it in the eye. The shark let go and Rodney headed for shore. He called for help and some fishermen came. Rodney had a big scar under his arm.

The shark capital. Did you know that Australia is the shark capital? Even though it has the most sharks, there have been fewer then 300 attacks since the year 1901.

HOW TO NOT GET ATTACKED BY A SHARK. : Never swim without somebody. : Don't swim with a cut or a shark can get you. : Never swim at night because that's dinnertime for sharks. : Most IMPORTANT: Get out of the water as fast as you can if you see a shark.
