Did you know that many of the animals living at the Salisbury Zoo are native to South America? Salisbury's winters are usually mild  (average winter temperature is about 38-39° F; average snowfall about 10 inches), so some of the animals can exist in our climate. Others take special shelter during the cold weather.

Did You Know?

Spectacled Bears are one of the few Rain Forest bears?
Spectacled Bears walk a little bit wobbly?
They have rings of yellowish fur around their eyes that make it look like they are wearing glasses?
These bears eat more plant matter than meat (about 95% plant, 5% meat)?

Bald Eagle Fun Facts

Did you know?

Eagles have hooked beaks so that they can catch and hold their prey?
They aren't bald! They have white feathers on their head.
Bald eagles like to eat fish?
They build a nest and use it over and over? One nest was found that had  been used for 34 years!!!
