Kangaroos

Kangaroos have pouches to carry their babies. The baby kangaroos are also called joeys. Joeys can't see when they are born. They count on their sense of smell, and their mother. At birth, a gray kangaroo joey is about the size of a lima bean and weighs no more than a thirtieth of an ounce. The kangaroo's enemies are: tasmanian devils, dingoes and people. Every year lots of young kangaroos are orphaned. In some cases their mothers are killed by wild dogs called dingoes, and in other cases they leap on to the road and they get hit by cars.
