Imagine what life would be like without a car.  We would have to walk or ride a horse or carriage any where we wanted to go.  People would have to live closer to where they worked, because without a car, it would take too long to get there.  Many inventors have worked to make cars the way they are today, from Henry Ford to engineers today who are working on technology to improve cars in the future.

Tires

Before you get in the car to drive to the grocery store or to school, remember that Charles Goodyear invented vulcanized rubber. Vulcanized rubber is rubber that won’t get sticky or melt when it is hot or crack and get brittle when it is cold. Vulcanized rubber is perfect for outdoor situations, that’s why we still use it today for tires.
