Freaky Facts and Features of Creepy Crawly Creatures of the Rainforest

Venus Fly Trap

The Venus Fly Trap is a carnivorous plant, which means it catches and eats insects. If a fly lands on it, little hairs make it spring shut like a trap door. The fly is stuck in the plant and can't get out. Then the fly is digested by the plant.

Venus Fly Traps digest the insects they trap to supplement their diet. They grow in impoverished soils and swamps.

The Venus fly trap will only eat what it catches. It depends on its mouth to catch food. So it's of course a carnivore.
