Where are Coral Reefs?
Coral reefs are found in the clear, warm shallow waters of tropical oceans, off the coast of most land forms betwen 30N Latitude and 30S Latitude. They are most commonly found near the coast on hard outcroppings of rock, usually not deeper than 150 ft. This is because the sunlight can still penetrate to this depth - coral reefs need high light intensity for survival.
