Bottlenose dolphins are found in every ocean except for the Polar seas. Bottlenose dolphins form pods or groups of about twelve. Open water Bottlenose form larger pods with over one hundred members. There are at least three sub species of Bottlenose dolphins. The groups are divided by the continents. |

The Bottlenose dolphins can reach 13 feet long. Bottlenose dolphins are chunkier than most dolphins. The males are a little bit larger than the females. Most have dark gray backs, but others have bluish or even brown. Their sides and bellies are lighter. Some may even have spots or stripes!

The Bottlenose's predators are great white sharks, killer whales, other species of toothed whales, and man. Some dolphins can travel up to 25 miles or 40 kilometers per hour. They can dive to 980 feet or 300 meters. |
