Their range is the Coasts of the North Atlantic and North Pacific Oceans to Baja, California and several inland lakes near Hudson Bay. Their habitat is riverbanks, beaches, offshore reefs, and rocky points. Their diet in the wild consists of mature: fish, squid and octopus; newly weaned. Their young eat shrimp, crab and small, bottom dwelling crustaceans. In the zoo they eat fish (smelt, mackerel, chaplain), and vitamins
