When you are starting to cast make sure no one is behind you.Then if you are a beginner use a simple rod such as a bail caster. When you start to cast hold the button down and fling your arm forward and let the button go. After the lure hits the water start reeling it in. If a fish bites the rod will bend and you give it a jerk and hang on to your rod and reel it in. When you get real good you can use a more advanced fishing rod.
