Pythian

These games were held at Delphi, to honor the god Apollo. They included musical contests as well as athletics. Winners were awarded a laurel wreath. The Pythian Games were held the year before the Olympic Games and survived until the fourth century A.D. In 582 B.C., the games were open to all Greeks. Delphi also became one of the popular places in ancient Greece.
