Nemean

These games were held at Nemea, southwest of Corinth, to honor Zeus. They were held in the same year as the Isthmian Games but in July. They started about 640 B.C. After 573 B.C., this game was open to all Greeks. Nemea became a popular place and was visited by all Greeks. Winners of these games also received a crown of wild celery.
