These games were held at the port of Corinth, in honor of Poseidon, the god of the sea. They included both athletics and music, and they were held in August of the same year as the Olympic games and again in the second year after them. It was especially popular with Athenians. The prize was a crown of dried wild celery but was later changed to a pine wreath. The pine was Poseidon’ symbol. |
