Come and Explore Greek architecture. The Greeks built big and beautiful
structures. Some are still standing today. Their temples for worshiping their
gods were usually the most beautiful buildings. Something similar to a stadium
or hippodrome,( a horse race track) were not built for beauty, but for strength. The Three Orders
The three orders were pillars that the Greeks used to build structures. The
Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian order each had their own styles. The Corinthian
pillars were very elegant, the Ionic order was less fancy than the Corinthian
order, but it was still beautiful, and the Doric order was plain, and it was
used more for strenghth not beauty. You will learn about which buildings in
Greece were built with the three orders. You will also find out why the Greeks
chose one order over another. If you are interested in learning about ancient
