Breakfast with Brenda




    Hi, I am Brenda, and I am going to be telling you about Healthful Breakfast  Habits.


       Do you know what it means to "fast?" When you fast, it means that you are going without eating for a long period of time. Breakfast is the meal that "breaks the fast," or breaks the long period of time you didn't eat because you were sleeping. Your body needs healthy food in the morning for energy.

    Skipping breakfast can cause you to do poor in school. You could even fall asleep during class! Young people who skip breakfast score lower in tests and homework, and are sometimes likely to be late to school in the morning because they don't have enough energy.

What should you eat for breakfast?

    *Keep your hands off anything that you need to put a lot of salt on. If you are going to eat eggs or bacon, make sure to put the smallest amount of salt possible.

    *Limit anything that is fatty. Try to cut down on bacon and sausage. Say NO to donuts and fried potatoes.

    *Limit the sugar.  Do not use too much sugar on your cereal.

    *Remember to include veggies and fruits. Breakfast is a good time to eat something you need from the food pyramid.
