How Tigers Became White
By Ben

Once there was a Siberian Tiger. He he was a light brownish-orange color.  That was the problem. Everything around him was white. One day he was searching for his dinner. When  his prey looked up, it saw the Tiger!  His dinner had escaped. The Tiger was very frustrated.

You see, Little One, that happened for the next few days. The Tiger was desperate for some kind of food.  Then he tried to catch fish, even though he didn't think he could catch any quick, flailing Sail Fish, oh Little One.

When  the Tiger turned around, he saw a White Ram. There was only one problem. The Ram  was white, not tan like he was suppose to be.  The Tiger looked down and saw the Ram was trapped in a poacher’s trap. The Tiger yanked and tugged and yanked and tugged, but the trap would not budge. Then he uttered, “I’ll be back!”

Then the Tiger got his friends, the  Wolves. They yanked and tugged. Then they gave one final yank, and the trap opened, you see, Little One.

Then the Ram changed into an animal spirit with parts from all animals.  When Tiger saw it, he thought it looked very queer. Then the spirit said, “I will award you each one wish for your bravery.”  The two Wolves wished for two large, fat Rats-- one for each of them. Then Tiger wished  for  his fur to turn white.

The Tiger was looking for his  prey. He had spotted  his prey, a large pheasant-like bird. Now, his prey did not see him because he was white like the snow around him.The Tiger took one giant leap and pounced on his prey.  Then, finally after he had ate his fill, he was no longer hungry!  From  then on some Tigers in the world have been white, oh Little One.
