Visitors to our web site, "Douglas Ellington," will be introduced to an array of information about a man who designed several of the finest buildings in a style now known as Art Deco all of which are located in our home town of Asheville, North Carolina. As our team members developed the research topic for our site through personnel interviews, newspaper clippings, etc., it became evident that the influence of Art Deco in our community is still being seen and felt today. Key points in this site includes: a history of Douglas Ellington’s life, major buildings in the Asheville area that he designed and executed, special features of each building, links to other sites and the influence this form of design has had on these buildings. As each page takes visitors through Douglas Ellington’s work as an architect and how he used Art Deco in the buildings in the Asheville area, we hope each will gain, as we have, a deeper appreciate for a man who was not afraid to pioneered a new style in architecture.
The following persons are those to whom we owe a debt of gratitude for their time, efforts, support, encouragement, and enthusiasm for our work.
